4th Annual International Lecture Series and Film Viewing Discussion Come & listen to your professors  discuss
      GREAT FOREIGN FILMS Translating Laughter!

The International Lecture Series is a chance for the Modern Languages and Cultures Undergraduate Council to enhance cultural awareness and education on campus. We are an undergraduate council not solely based on language but on culture. We feel that this is a chance for us to express our commitment to diversity and attract students to continue embracing diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Mark your calendars now for the four day Humanities Project collaboration between River Campus, Eastman School of Music, and George Eastman House that will take place 18 (Thursday) to 21 (Sunday) March:

3/18 (Thursday, ESM 7pm): A recreation of the early 30th century Nickelodeon experience

3/19 (Friday, ESM 4pm ): A discussion on the history of music during the "silent' period;,

3/19 (Friday, Dryden Theater, 8pm): The recreation of an entire film program as it would have been experienced by audiences in 1917, with live accompaniment by Philip Carli and the Flower City Orchestra

3/20 (Saturday, Hubbell Auditorium, 4pm): a rare opportunity to experience an authentic magic lantern show on River campus

3/21 (Sunday, George Eastman House, 1pm): Tours (registration full) and demonstrations at the George Eastman House; 3/21 (Sunday, Dryden Theater, 3pm): A special program of Vitaphone (early sound system) films restored by the Eastman House Motion Picture Department, including a feature and pre-feature shorts.

The Modern Languages and Cultures Mildred R. Burton Fund helps defray costs for UR undergraduates studying language abroad in the summer. Applications are due February 15 and may be obtained from the forms page on this website.
